2022 Capital Levy

Columbia School District has a four-year Capital Levy on the November 8, 2022 ballot. A levy is a locally-approved tax based on property values. The 2022 Capital Levy replaces the expiring Bond that was approved by local voters in 2017.

If approved, the proposed 2022 Capital Levy funds will be used to pay for districtwide safety, security, and infrastructure improvements, including but not limited to:

1.    Safety & Security
     a.    Create a safe vestibule entry at the entrance of each school building
     b.    Update door security and access controls across our campus
     c.    Improve ADA access to athletic events (walkways and expanding bathroom access)
     d.    Creating a new parking area for football and soccer events, limiting parking on Humorist Rd.
     e.    Update visitor bleachers at the football and soccer field
     f.     Remodel the CHS baseball bleachers

2.    Infrastructure Upgrades & Improvements
     a.    School restrooms
     b.    Columbia High School auditorium lighting and sound
     c.    Community access (See new parking and ADA access to the bathrooms and 
             football field walkways listed above)

Facts & Figures
If approved, the total collection amount for the proposed capital levy will be $877,667 each year (2023-2026):
     ●    2023 = $877,667
     ●    2024 = $877,667
     ●    2025 = $877,667
     ●    2026 = $877,667

            TOTAL = $3,510,668

The proposed tax rate is estimated at $0.83 in 2023, and will decrease each collection year as follows:
     ●    2023 = $0.83
     ●    2024 = $0.81
     ●    2025 = $0.78
     ●    2026 = $0.76
